Unbelievable Rs 250 Crore Boost Transforms Tripura’s Future

Special Package of Rs 250 Crore Approved for Tripura

Guwahati, Sep 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today announced the Government of India’s comprehensive efforts to implement various agreements focusing on the holistic development of Tripura and the Northeastern region. The initiative aims to address the root causes leading individuals to take up arms and ensure sustainable peace and progress.

A Memorandum of Settlement was signed in New Delhi, witnessed by key officials such as Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, and Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. The signatories were representatives from the Government of India, Government of Tripura, National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF).

During the event, the NLFT and ATTF reaffirmed their commitment to the development of Tripura, ending a 35-year-long conflict in the state. Amit Shah emphasized Prime Minister Modi’s efforts in bridging the distances between New Delhi and the Northeast through improved connectivity and fostering a sense of unity among the people.

Shah highlighted that today’s Memorandum of Settlement marks the 12th agreement for the Northeast and the third for Tripura. This significant step follows numerous agreements that have seen approximately 10,000 insurgents lay down their arms and join the mainstream society. These agreements have been pivotal in saving thousands of innocent lives.

Shah noted that, under the current settlement, over 328 armed cadres of NLFT and ATTF would renounce violence and contribute to the development of Tripura and India. They will actively participate in building a prosperous Tripura as proud citizens.

Moreover, Shah announced a special package of Rs 250 crore approved by the Centre for the comprehensive development of Tripura’s tribal population. The package aims to improve education, employment opportunities, and welfare schemes for the tribal communities.

Post the signing of the Bru-Reang agreement, thousands of Bru-Reang individuals are now enjoying stable homes, quality education for their children, and access to various public welfare schemes. This progress signifies the Modi government’s commitment to the Northeast, focusing on developing regional culture, languages, and identities, especially of tribal groups.

A Memorandum of Settlement was signed, in the presence of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, between Government of India, Government of Tripura and National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), in New Delhi, today.

According to the latest agreement, NLFT and ATTF will abandon their path of violence, surrender their arms and ammunition, and disband their armed organizations, marking a significant shift towards peace and prosperity.
