Father Of Rape Survivor Arrested For Helping Accused Get Bail In Rajasthan
In a shocking turn of events, a private school principal and the father of a 14-year-old rape survivor have been apprehended by the police for their alleged involvement in tampering with the birth records of the girl. This was reportedly done to aid the accused in securing bail. The arrest of the principal took place in Deoria on Thursday, while the girl’s father was arrested from Behror in Rajasthan on Saturday night, as confirmed by Sunil Kumar Jangir, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Murlipura Police Station.
The harrowing case came to light when the girl filed an FIR in July, alleging that her aunt had sold her to Sandeep Yadav, a resident of Haryana, for a sum of Rs two lakh, following which she was subjected to rape.
The case, which was registered under various sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act, led to the arrest of her aunt, Sandeep Yadav, and his father Satveer Yadav after thorough investigation. All accused are currently in judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the girl’s father, identified as Sanjay, is said to have contacted a private school in Uttar Pradesh to obtain false records claiming that the girl was an adult and not a minor.
“The school principal, Prannath Mal, tampered with the school register and provided a false birth record. The document falsely stated that the girl’s birth year was 2003. Upon investigation, we discovered that the birth year had been altered from 2010 to 2003, effectively making her appear 21 years old,” stated the SHO.
After the girl registered an FIR, the police had obtained her original record, which confirmed her status as a minor. The emergence of the second document raised suspicions, prompting the police to register a separate case. A team was then dispatched to Uttar Pradesh for verification.
“The team discovered that the school register had been tampered with. The register was seized, and the principal was arrested. During interrogation, he admitted that the girl’s father had approached him to seek a false record. Following this revelation, the girl’s father was also arrested on Saturday night,” the SHO added.
Both the principal and the girl’s father have been arrested in the second case related to document tampering.
