In a rare and insightful interview, actress Preeti Jhangiani revealed some surprising anecdotes about working with the one and only Amitabh Bachchan on the set of the classic romantic comedy Mohabbatein. Preeti, who was just starting her career when she played the role of Anju in the 2000 film, has shared that Amitabh Bachchan, the iconic Indian actor, is indeed "a child at heart". She recounts that the superstar didn’t like sitting with "oldies" – a group of elderly industry professionals and actors who often gathered in the production unit.
"He was always making jokes, playing pranks, and having a ball. Even on serious shoots, he would crack silly jokes or make fun of himself," Preeti reminisced. "Sometimes, when we were done with our scenes, he would break into an impromptu dance number in the studio, and the whole team would join in. Those were moments we would never forget."
The actress, who is best known for her roles in films like Mohabbatein and Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, went on to share a surprising regret. On one of the sets, Amitabh Bachchan presented her with a beautiful shawl as a token of appreciation, but Preeti, unaware of the tradition, declined the gift.
"I don’t know what possessed me to do so, but I thought he was being too generous or something, and I just said ‘no’. Oh, what a regret I have today! He took it sportingly, though, and we all learned a lesson from it. It just goes to show that the smallest acts of kindness and generosity can bring the most joy and impact our lives," Preeti acknowledged.
