“Purely Personal”: DK Shivakumar On Report Of Meeting Kamala Harris On US Trip
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has clarified that his upcoming visit to the United States is purely personal and not related to any political motives or invitations. This statement comes in response to media reports suggesting that he would be meeting top US leaders, including former President Barack Obama and Vice President Kamala Harris, during his trip.
In a press statement, Shivakumar said, “I am travelling to the US along with my family till September 15. The media reports that I am meeting former US President Barack Obama and US Vice President Kamala Harris are incorrect. It is a personal visit.”
To further dispel the rumors, Shivakumar also released a letter he had written to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge regarding his US visit. In the letter, he stated, “Regarding my upcoming visit to the United States of America, I would like to dispel the ongoing rumours–my visit is purely for personal reasons and is no way related to any political motive, nor is it due to any political invitation. I request everyone to kindly refrain from indulging in any kind of conjecture.”
Shivakumar also took the opportunity to urge Union Minister Pralhad Joshi to focus on getting approvals for the Mahadayi project and funds for the Upper Bhadra project, rather than raising issues like Muda and Darshan’s arrest. He appealed to Joshi to work towards these important projects for the benefit of the people.
The Deputy Chief Minister also mentioned that he would be speaking with the Chief Minister in about 15 days to discuss the nature of their fight for the Mahadayi project and whether to call for an all-party meeting or a meeting of the Commission.
