Unbelievable Tragedy: 17 Perish in UP Bus Accident, Including 2 Children

UP Bus Accident Deaths Reach 17 After 2 Children Die During Treatment

The death count in the bus accident that occurred in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, has tragically reached 17 after two children succumbed to their injuries during treatment. This devastating incident has left the community in mourning and has raised concerns about road safety in the region.

According to District Magistrate of Hathras, Ashish Kumar, 16 people are still undergoing treatment, with 11 in Hathras and five in Aligarh. The two children who lost their lives during treatment at a hospital in Aligarh have been identified as Appi (2) and Gulshan (around 12 years old).

The accident occurred on Friday when a roadways bus hit a van carrying 15 people, including four women and four children, from behind on National Highway 93. Superintendent of Police (SP) Nipun Agarwal stated that the bus was trying to overtake the van when the collision occurred near Kanwarpur village, about 10 kilometers from the district headquarters.

The passengers in the van were on their way to Agra from Hathras when the tragedy struck. A case has been registered, and arrests will be made as soon as possible, according to Agarwal.

Salam Mohammad, a relative of some of the victims, shared that his family members were returning to their home in Agra after attending a ‘chaalisvaa’ (a mourning ritual) in the Sasni area when the accident took place.

In response to the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed district officials to reach the spot and oversee relief measures. He also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those killed and Rs 50,000 each to those seriously injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the accident and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. He announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured.

President Droupadi Murmu also condoled the loss of lives in the Hathras road accident and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. In a post in Hindi on X, she expressed her deepest condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones.

The Hathras bus accident has highlighted the need for improved road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic rules to prevent such tragedies in the future. The community continues to mourn the loss of lives and support those affected by this devastating incident.
