Uncover the Truth: Atiq Ahmed’s Rs 6 Crore Plots Seized by UP Police

Atiq Ahmed’s Two Plots Worth Rs 6 Crore Attached By UP Police

On Friday, April 13, the Uttar Pradesh police attached two plots of land valued at nearly Rs 6 crore, which were purchased by the late gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed under the name of his acquaintance, Shyamji Saroj. This move comes as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on the illegal assets acquired by Ahmed using the proceeds from his criminal activities.

According to ACP (Civil Lines) Shwetabh Pandey, the plots measure approximately 1,344 square meters and are located in the Prayagraj district. The attachment of these immovable properties was carried out under Section 14 (1) of the Gangsters Act, and a board has been installed on the premises. The inspector of Naini police station has been appointed as the administrator of the attached properties.

The police’s action demonstrates their commitment to dismantling the network of ill-gotten wealth amassed by Atiq Ahmed during his time in the world of crime. By attaching these properties, the authorities aim to send a strong message to other criminals that their illegitimate assets will not be spared.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists on April 15 last year. The incident occurred while police personnel were escorting the brothers to a medical college in Prayagraj for a checkup. The brazen killing brought to light the dangers faced by individuals involved in the world of crime and politics, as well as the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in ensuring their safety.

The Uttar Pradesh police’s decision to attach the properties bought by Atiq Ahmed highlights the importance of tackling not only the perpetrators of crime but also the financial networks that support their activities. By targeting the assets acquired through criminal means, the authorities can disrupt the operations of these criminal enterprises and make it harder for them to continue their unlawful activities.

Moreover, the attachment of these properties sends a clear message to the public that the government is committed to rooting out corruption and ensuring that individuals who engage in criminal activities will face the consequences of their actions. This move is likely to boost public confidence in the law enforcement agencies and encourage more people to come forward with information about criminal activities in their communities.

To further enhance the effectiveness of their efforts, the authorities should also focus on gathering intelligence on the financial networks used by criminals to launder their money and acquire properties. By following the money trail, the police can identify the key players involved in these networks and take action against them, thereby cutting off the resources that fuel criminal activities.

In conclusion, the attachment of Atiq Ahmed’s properties by the Uttar Pradesh police is a significant step in the fight against organized crime in the state. By targeting the assets acquired through criminal means, the authorities can disrupt the operations of these criminal enterprises and make it harder for them to continue their unlawful activities.
